I brainstormed, trying to figure out who I wanted to be if I had the chance to be someone for just one day. I thought about the many amazing women from the past and present. Women like:
~Queen Elizabeth I,
~Molly Pitcher the nurse and water carrier during the Civil War,
~Clara Barton with the Red Cross,
~Pocahontas,
~Eleanor Roosevelt,
~Amelia Earhart.
I wanted to be: someone who was a true lady with class and style. I wanted to be someone who loved Jesus with all her heart and enjoyed being with God’s people. A help to those around me, a shoulder always available, a listening ear, a caring hand, a kind heart. I want to be one who loves even if it means getting hurt in the end, and I want to be loved.
That’s why… I picked Tabitha, also known as Dorcus in the Bible. She was a true lady with class who loved God with all her heart. And….since she sewed, I believe she had great style! She helped all in need, no matter who they were. She fed the hungry, nursed the sick, sewed for the needy, and gave of her own with a merry heart.
Tabitha had a caring hand, kind heart, available shoulder to lean on, and a listening ear. Tabitha loved and she was loved. So much that after dying, those she cared for put her body in an upper room and had Peter pray her back to life. She probably never was wealthy, had a fancy house, or a pure bred horse to drive her chariot. She was a lot richer than any amount of money could have made her be. She was a blessing, a help, and a servant to all.
I've never been one to want to be like everyone else at all times... I rarely wore clothes that others around me wore; or did my hair just like everyone else. Don't take me wrong, I don't want to be weird. Though being on the extraordinary side of the scale was and is always more appealing to me. I want to be someone who can make a difference. Someone who's words match their actions. Not just another teen girl with hopes and dreams- but one who with God's help makes her hopes and dreams come true.
